Solace Health Adds a Healthy Dose of Humanity to Healthcare

Healthcare decisions in the U.S. are among the most consequential people face, yet the system guiding those decisions and treatment remains complex. Navigating the labyrinthine medical system is overwhelming. Patients face outdated systems, confusing processes and a lack of clear information. Trying to figure it out alone often means unnecessarily high costs and delays that lead to poor and preventable outcomes.
No one is immune to America’s broken healthcare infrastructure, including the 69 million Americans on Medicare. Even those with robust insurance and medical know-how aren’t spared from inaccurate directories, prior authorization purgatory and reams of paperwork. The system is broken. And when you’re sick, navigating this maze is the last thing you should worry about. This is where healthcare advocates can truly make life-changing impacts. While they are not medical care providers, advocates act as translators, process experts and relentless supporters. From firsthand experience, we’ve heard the benefits of advocates on those who need medical care and assistance. But not everyone who needs an advocate is so fortunate to have one.
What if every patient had an advocate - by default?
That’s where Solace Health comes in.
For Solace Founders, Health Is Deeply Personal
While creating a truly patient-centric health ecosystem remains a dream for many, one of the most scalable ways to improve the patient experience is by empowering them directly. Solace Health is built around the premise that a strong healthcare system is one where every patient has a dedicated advocate guiding their care journey.
This is a mission that is deeply personal to Jeremy Gurewitz, Co-founder and CEO, who helped navigate his mother’s care journey and faced many of the challenges that patients face today. Jeremy set out to reimagine a better experience for future patients. That’s when he teamed up with Sara Sargent, a product-minded co-founder who shared his vision. Together, they created Solace: a marketplace that solidifies the role of affordable advocacy within the healthcare system.
We’re proud to announce that IVP is joining Solace Health’s mission by leading its $130M Series C.
How Solace Health Works
Solace Health connects patients, starting with the 69 million on Medicare, with trained virtual advocates, most of them registered nurses. These advocates help people get the care they need, at little to no out-of-pocket cost to the patient. Solace Health is a three-way marketplace with three-way alignment (patient, provider, payor), benefiting all sides of the ecosystem.
- For patients, Solace Health has created a bridge to help them better navigate the nuances of providers and payors, diminishing care gaps.
- For Advocates, it’s flexible work with purpose - no long shifts on your feet, no staffing shortages and no burnout. For the broader provider community, advocates also help eliminate the number of patients who have been misguided or misinformed about their needs.
- For payors, there’s an aligned financial incentive: better navigation means better outcomes and fewer costly stumbles on the path to recovery. Fewer ER visits. Fewer unnecessary surgeries. Fewer delays in proactive care for less intense conditions that snowball into expensive crises requiring a multitude of providers and procedures.
What’s Next
Solace has already supported more than 200,000 patients and families. With new funding led by IVP, the team is focused on expanding its product, improving patient experience and equipping advocates with digital tools to manage care effectively and at scale.
By creating a marketplace of advocates, Solace is building the infrastructure to ensure better health outcomes for generations to come.
