Welcoming Ajay Vashee to IVP

IVP specializes in scaling and working with the best hypergrowth companies and executive teams. As part of our work, we have a chance to interact with some of the strongest operators across the technology ecosystem. One of the highest leverage ways we support our portfolio companies is by connecting current operators with individuals who’ve been through similar journeys themselves. And we found one individual that we were introducing in recent years repeatedly to the executives within our network: we couldn’t be more honored to welcome Ajay Vashee to the IVP team as our newest General Partner.

Ajay joins IVP after nearly a decade at Dropbox, where he was most recently Chief Financial Officer. Ajay’s operating experience is directly relevant for the type of entrepreneurs we partner with, as he helped Dropbox grow from 100 people to almost 3,000, and from a startup with a $45 million run rate to a profitable, public company generating nearly $2 billion in revenues.

Entrepreneurs come to IVP seeking the expertise to help build their company at the growth stage. As an accomplished private and public company operator, Ajay will complement our team and bring considerable experience from scaling one of the largest SaaS businesses in the world.

Yet Ajay’s tenure at Dropbox was not the first time we had the pleasure to work with him. Prior to Dropbox, he spent four years at NEA investing in venture and growth-stage enterprise, consumer, and energy companies. Finding the right co-investors is critical, and Ajay impressed us in many ways as a frequent collaborator.

It’s an incredible and exciting time for us as investors. Ajay will be invaluable in helping us source and back companies from their breakout to pre-IPO stages, with an initial focus on SaaS, collaboration software, and subscription businesses. He looks forward to sharing lessons learned with the next generation of enduring technology companies looking to replicate the hypergrowth he led so successfully at Dropbox.

When Ajay said his goodbyes at Dropbox this summer, in a blog post honoring his tenure, the Dropbox Team wrote, “The strength of the finance organization Ajay leaves behind is a testament to his leadership. Inside Dropbox, he’s known for the trust and mentorship he shows his team, and his authenticity and transparent communication style.” We can’t wait to see Ajay in action with our current and future portfolio companies.

Please welcome Ajay to our team. We encourage you to find a way to work with him – he’s excited for this next step in his career, and looks forward to investing in and partnering with world-class founders and management teams.
