Blair Shane is a marketer, general manager, and entrepreneurial leader with a proven track record in public, private, and non-profit organizations alike. Blair joined IVP as Partner and Chief Marketing Officer in October 2021. Blair’s focus is on building a world class go-to-market function that attracts and serves category defining companies as they strive for market leadership.
Prior to IVP, Blair served as Partner and Chief Marketing Officer at Sequoia Capital, where she was responsible for building Sequoia’s global brand and helping portfolio companies grow from the earliest stages. Her track record also includes being Associate Dean and Chief Marketing Officer at Stanford Graduate School of Business, the Chief Marketing Officer at the California Academy of Sciences, and Vice President of Marketing Planning at Charles Schwab. Early in her career, she worked at start-ups Questium and Time Dance, following brand management of Total Cereal and Yoplait Yogurt at General Mills. Blair began her career at Franklin Templeton while co-founding HandsOn San Francisco, now HandsOn Bay Area, in her down time.
She holds an M.B.A. from Stanford University and a B.A. in history from Johns Hopkins University. Blair lives in Marin with her husband, Rick, who she met in college and is the proud mom of Zoe and Luke and pups George and Sully. She has a passion for building businesses, resolving conflict, hiking, skiing, reading, needlepoint (yes needlepoint), being a change agent for good, and trying (almost) anything new.
